SUMMARY:Restorative Ethics: An In-person CE workshop for Mental Health Professionals
DESCRIPTION:Restorative Ethics:  A Meditative Exploration of Ethical Vulnerabilities and Strengths\n\nEthical challenges are inherent to clinical practice. Along with adhering to professional codes of ethics, clinicians need internal and external resources, and restorative practices to help develop and strengthen their own ethical intelligence and foster personal safeguards for ethical practice.\nThis workshop offers a unique and contemplative approach to addressing ethical challenges inherent in clinical practice. Participants will identify a current ethical challenge and, throughout the workshop, engage in an innovative reflective process to explore the specific vulnerabilities, conditions, and strengths relevant to that situation.\nParticipants will learn Reflective Meditation, a contemplative practice that combines meditation and inquiry. Exploration of the Buddhist principles of Conditionality and the Eightfold Path will deepen understanding of the conditions that contribute to ethical vulnerability while offering practical insights for ethical awareness and decision-making.\nLearning Objectives\nParticipants will be able to:\n-Apply Reflective Meditation and freeform writing to deepen understanding of their own ethical landscape.\n-Identify a current ethical challenge relevant to their professional practice.\n-Recognize and reduce conditions that contribute to ethical vulnerabilities and challenges, including issues related to professional boundaries, confidentiality, dual relationships, and mandatory reporting.\n-Identify and strengthen personal qualities, practices, and conditions that reduce the risk of ethical transgressions.\n-Develop Reflective Meditation for self-care and as an ethical safeguard.\n-Develop an introductory understanding of the Buddhist principles of Conditionality and the Eightfold Path and their relevance to ethical decision-making.\n-Use Reflective Meditation as a practice for self-care and as an ongoing ethical safeguard.\n-Adopt an adaptation of the ACA Code of Ethics as workshop agreements.\nJoin us in this transformative workshop to develop ethical insight and personal/professional growth. Honestly consider what you can afford. If you’re able to pay on the higher end, this will support others who are experiencing financial challenges.
